Fairview Heights State School is a technologically advanced school with 5 full computer labs and Ipads guaranteeing regular access to computers for every student in every class.
We are coming into very exciting times particularly relating to
digital futures. The Australian Curriculum and Reporting Authority
(ACARA) has developed curriculum to prepare students for the future
where up to 40% of current jobs could possibly be re-placed by
technology by 2025. The majority of jobs in the future will require our
current students to have a good knowledge of digital systems or
programing.
The Digital Technologies curriculum enables students to use
computational thinking and information systems to define, design and
implement digital solutions to real world problems. This could involve
strategies, including:
- writing code
- simplifying complex problems
- organising data and
- understanding digital systems.
In the Media Arts curriculum students explore, make and respond to
Art through the use of technology. Examples of these include music
videos and short animations.
Our classroom teachers are enthusiastic about this new direction
within education, which will better prepare our students for the
future.
