Guidance officer

​Guidance officers provide:

  • information, counselling and support services to students
  • assistance to access the curriculum due to the impact of disability or suspected disability
  • assessments to determine the nature of a student's learning and developmental needs in order to make recommendations for educational adjustments and interventions
  • assistance with resolving personal, social or emotional problems that are having a major impact upon their learning
  • resources and professional development to school staff, parents and the school community.

They also:

  • manages complex caseload and
  • liaise with other agencies such as Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors, Queensland Community Care services, Queensland Health and provide parenting support for families.
