Year 6 camp at Tallebudgera was so much fun for both students and teachers. The weather was great and the crystal-clear waters of the Gold Coast was a beautiful 24 degrees all week. The different camp groups Borobi, Bowai and Mibunn had different programs throughout the week that involved many adventurous activities that focused on the different Hero traits: Champion, Mastermind, Guardian and Warrior. The many activities included early morning walks on the beach, bushwalking, kayaking, tubing, on high ropes, which included zip-lining over a crocodile pit and body-boarding. There was a sustainability theme throughout the week, which was called ‘3 for the Sea’. This related to picking up 3 pieces of rubbish (plastic) every day to save it from getting to the ocean and affecting sea-life. Many students didn’t want to leave on the Friday and thoroughly enjoyed the week. I’m sure that all the students will now have great memories for a lifetime and skills useful as they head to high school. Thanks to the parents for giving your child this opportunity and for being so accommodating with the bus issues, we had on the trip home.
